Stuart Baxter was upset after his team Kaizer Chiefs conceded during their 3-1 win over Swallows FC in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.

The Chiefs coach was looking forward to a clean sheet after Amakhosi had led 3-0 through Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat’s brace. However, it was never to be as Lebohang Mokoena scored Swallows’ solitary goal.

“Very difficult game. The pitch was very, very troublesome and the wind was very strong. It made good football quite difficult. I think we managed the game well. A little bit upset that we conceded the goal, 3-1 in a derby away from home is a good result,” Baxter said.

The former Bafana Bafana mentor was, however, happy with how players like Kearyn Baccus and Happy Mashiane, who have not be regulars at Chiefs, performed against the Dube Birds.

“With the three games we had in a very short time, the load on the players was ernomous. We were conscious of the fact, that’s why we had lots of changes to start with. We tried to ease the load. I thought Kearyn had a very good cameo,” Baxter said.

Sunday’s win took Amakhosi to second place on the Premiership standings with 22 points from 13 matches. They are eight points behind log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played one game less.
