Former Athletics South Africa (ASA) president Leonard Chuene has gone the way of all flesh.

Ink Sport has learnt that the former ASA boss passed away on Friday after he was admitted in hospital on Thursday.

In February 2011 the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) handed Chuene a seven-year ban from holding any position in sport administration.

This followed after SASCOC found Chuene, Kakata Maponyane and Simon Dlamini guilty of various offences including the handling of the Caster Semenya gender case in 2009.

Chuene, Maponyane and Dlamini always protested their innocence.
