Unbeaten British boxer Sunny ‘Showtime’ Edwards has spoken highly about current International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight champion Moruti ‘Babyface’ Mthalane.
Edwards, 25, challenges Mthalane at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London in the United Kingdom on Friday, 30 April.
Speaking to SAfm on Wednesday evening, Edwards admitted that he’s meeting a great boxer in Mthalane.
“I know I’ve got a very, very dangerous opponent in Moruti. He’s a great champion. He is heavily avoided. This is the biggest fight of my career, the biggest fight of my life,” Edwards said.
“I got to know Moruti over a period of weeks. He’s someone I look up to. It’s not personal, I believe in myself. I have always wanted to be the best.”
Mthalane, who is trained by Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan at Hot Box Gym in Johannesburg, turns 39 in October and has not lost since losing to Filipino boxer Nonito Donaire in November 2011. The fight against Edwards is going to be Mthalane’s fourth defence of his crown.
