Moruti ‘Babyface’ Mthalane, his trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan and second Hayden Jones are going to leave South Africa for the United Kingdom on Thursday.
Mthalane is scheduled to make a fourth defence of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight belt against Sunny Edwards from the UK on Friday, 30 April.
The fight, which is promoted by Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, is going to be held at York Hall, Bethnal Green, in London.
“We are leaving for the UK on Thursday,” Nathan, who is the chief trainer at Hot Box Gym, confirmed.
Mthalane has enjoyed a healthy winning streak since his last loss, which was against Filipino boxer Nonito Donaire in November 2008. This was an IBF and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) flyweight bout in the United States.
Meanwhile, Nathan has announced that former IBO minimumweight champion Simphiwe ‘Chain Reaction’ Konkco and Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler are set to make a comeback in an Uppercut Promotions tournament in May.
“I’m very close to getting opponents for both fighters,” award-winning Nathan said.
Tsolo-born Konkco is yet to fight since his loss to Chayaphon Moonsri also known as Wanheng Menayothin in a World Boxing Council (WBC) minimumweight title contest in October 2019.
Five-time world champion Budler last fought during his loss to Japanese boxer Hiroto Kyoguchi in December 2018.
Budler was scheduled to return to the ring in Secunda in March, but the fight was cancelled after Tanzanian boxer Hamid Kwata failed to make the weight.
