Brandon Truter regards Swallows FC’s away match to Kaizer Chiefs as a special game, which both clubs need to win for different reasons.
The Swallows coach said that the Dube Birds, who are fifth on the DStv Premiership table, need to win when they visit Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec on Wednesday (17h00).
Truter wants a win, which will entrench Swallows’ position on the Premiership standings. Currently, Swallows are fifth with 40 points from 25 games.
“It is a special game. As much as Chiefs need it, we need it also. It’s their home ground as well,” Truter said.
“We need a win as much as they need it. Of course, with different objectives. They want to get into the top-eight and we want to get spots for Africa. Chiefs is a special team. They’ve got special players that can change the game. We have to be mindful of those players.”
Mitchell’s Plain-born Truter reckons that proper planning will help them win this match. The Birds beat Amakhosi 1-0 in a first round match played at the Dobsonville Stadium earlier this season.
“We have to plan accordingly, one mistake they can punish us. We have to improve on our last performance, a draw against Maritzburg (United),” Truter said.
Chiefs defender Yagan Sasman, meanwhile, expects the Dube Birds to give them a run for their money.
“I think the game is gonna be difficult for us. Of course, it’s a Soweto derby. All derbies are difficult,” said Sasman.
“It’s an important game for us because we need to win each an every game. Our goal is to make it into the top-eight. We know what to expect from them.”
