South African national Under-23 coach David Notoane has identified one of the areas he needs to work on his team.
Notoane’s boys were beaten 2-0 by their Egyptian counterparts in an international friendly match in Egypt on Thursday evening.
“The game against Egypt was difficult as we expected it to be. From a physical condition, we were a little bit behind them,” Notoane said.
“They were faster, quicker and stronger. But we started well, we dominated. After about 20 minutes, we started dominating the midfield. Then we conceded two bad goals from situations we had analysed and situations we are trying to work on in terms of defensive tightness. We need to work on our finishing. There’s still a concern that we create chances, we are not converting.”
The former SuperSport United forward and his boys are playing friendly games to prepare for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
