The effects of the raging COVID-19 pandemic are being felt in South African boxing circles. 
State President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Sunday evening that the country would move to alert level 4 something which has resulted in the postponement of the J4Joy Promotions tournament scheduled for Graceland Casino, Secunda, on Friday, 30 July. 
Nkululeko Mhlongo was due to to fight against John Bopape in a World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African middleweight title contest. Bopape defeated Mhlongo in Durban earlier this year. 
Meanwhile, Sharadene Fortuin from Seymour in the Eastern Cape was billed to challenge Eldorado Park-based South African female bantamweight champion Melissa Miller in the main supporting bout.
