Bafana Bafana caretaker coach Morena Ramoreboli has admitted that eSwatini were difficult opponents.
Bafana beat Isihlangu Semnikati 1-0 through Thabang Sibanyoni’s goal in a COSAFA Cup match at the Isaac Wolfson Stadium in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha, on Thursday.
Bafana have won their two opening matches in the competition and have beaten Isihlangu in all five matches they have played against each other.
“Another difficult game. I have been saying this to them when you are playing every country in the SADC region they want to beat us because they know that scouts are here and they might earn some contracts,” Ramoreboli remarked.
“It’s not easy to play SADC countries because they come out fighting with everything. But I’m proud of the character and commitment we saw from our boys. I still believe that we will be better as the tournament progresses because I see our team understanding exactly why we are here.”
Having beaten Botswana and eSwatini by the same scoreline (1-0), Ramoreboli is happy with what he has seen so far.
“That willingness to fight for each other is there. So really I’m happy, I’m excited to work with such a wonderful group,” he said.
Bafana’s next game is against Lesotho at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Tuesday. Likuena have won once and lost once.
