Bafana Bafana earned their first three points in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers following a 1-0 win over Ghana’s Black Stars at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, on Monday evening.
Maritzburg United’s Bongokuhle Hlongwane scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute. The goal was a reward for Hlongwane’s hardwork during the match.
The score could have been 2-0 had it not for Zambian assistant referee Kabwe Chansa, who flagged Percy Tau’s legitimate goal for an offside in the 37th minute.
The Black Stars had a bright start in the first half asking some serious questions, but they failed to score. Bafana Bafana had a better second half as they enjoyed more ball possession.
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana have four points from the win over the Black Stars and a point from Friday’s draw with Zimbabwe. Bafana Bafana face Ethiopia in back-to-back matches in October.
