Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile is going to face Japanese boxer Kenichi Ogawa in a vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title fight.
Fuzile got the golden opportunity to face Ogawa after an injury forced Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov from Tajikistan to pull out of a title fight against the Japanese.
“Rumble Africa has been invited to negotiations for a possible world title fight in South Africa. These developments have been welcomed by Rumble Africa,” a statement from Fuzile’s promoters Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) said on Friday.
Initially, Rakhimov and Ogawa were due to meet in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, last month. But Rakhimov’s injury forced a postponement of the fight.
“Rumble Africa has taken a decision to explore all avenues and lobby both the South African government and private sector to join in as they set to bring this sensational and titanic showdown to East London, Eastern Cape,” a RAP statement further said.
Fuzile stopped Briton Martin Ward in an elimination bout in the United States in May.
