Orlando Pirates avenged their 2-1 MTN8 loss to their neighbours Swallows FC when they beat the Dube Birds 1-0 in a Soweto derby played at the Orlando Stadium in Orlando East on Saturday afternoon.
The Birds enjoyed bragging rights after knocking the Buccaneers out of the MTN8, however things changed on Saturday as Tshegofatso Mabasa’s 78th minute goal ensured that Pirates walked away with the three points.
Meanwhile, this was a match where defender and captain Happy Jele made history reaching a milestone of 400 games for the Buccaneers. The 34-year-old Jele is the first Buccaneer to play 400 matches in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) era.
