A frustrated Benni McCarthy has criticised award-winning match official Thando Ndzandzeka following his team AmaZulu’s goalless draw with SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership encounter at King’s Park in Durban on Tuesday evening.
The Usuthu coach accused Dutywa-born Ndzandzeka of constantly blowing against his players and turning a blind eye to fouls committed by Matsatsantsa a Pitori. Both sides finished the match with 10 men after AmaZulu’s Tercious Malepe and Luke Fleurs from Matsatsantsa were sent off for rough play.
“A game where we could have easily lost. Got a point out of it. I think I have to commend the players,” McCarthy commented.
“I think I don’t want to be controversial. Our league is precious, we demand teams to step up their game and make this league what it is.”
The former Bafana Bafana hitman and one-time Cape Town City mentor added: “The referee couldn’t really control the game. It was one way traffic. Everything was going in favour of the other team.”
Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa coach Kaitano Tembo reckons that his boys deserved to win the match.
“I’m very proud of the guys, coming here to get a point. It’s always a difficult place to come to,” Tembo remarked.
“I thought we were very positive. We created the better chances, we were the better team. We deserved three points. I will take a point just because of the way we played and the opponents we played against.”
