Orlando Pirates came from behind to beat Chippa United 2-1 in a DStv Premiership encounter at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday afternoon. 

The Gqeberha-based Chilli Boys opened the scoring in the 12th minute through former Mamelodi Sundowns Phakamani Mahlambi off a move, which was initiated by Siphesihle Mkhize.

Tshegofatso Mabasa scored his second goal in two successive matches when he equalised for the Soweto giants in the 29th minute. Mabasa was on the score sheet when Pirates beat their neighbours Swallows FC 1-0 in Soweto last Saturday.

The Buccaneers took the lead in the 59th minute through Abel Mabaso, who once played for the Chilli Boys, off a Bandile Shandu pass. The side from Gqeberha were caught on the counter.

Goodman Mosele, who joined Pirates from Baroka FC, netted the Soweto side’s third goal in the 78th minute. Mosele netted the last time he visited the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium while playing for Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele.

Next up for the Chilli Boys is an away clash against Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands on Saturday while the Buccaneers will welcome defending DStv Premiership champions Sundowns at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on the same day.
