A determined and confident Asanda Gingqi is leaving East London for Johannesburg on Friday with high hopes of winning a South African title.

Gingqi is scheduled to face off with Abdul-Aziz Kunert in a vacant SA featherweight title fight at the Booysens Boxing Gym in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon.

“We are done with training, we are ready for the fight. We are going there to win,” the Mdantsane boxer said on Monday.

“I’m leaving for Johannesburg on Friday for my Sunday fight. I have no doubt in my mind that l will be a South African champion by the time l come back to East London next Monday.”

This shootout between Gingqi and Cape Town-born Kunert pits two unbeaten boxers. Gingqi has won all his six fights with five of those ending in stoppages while Kunert has overcome his 10 opponents with two of them failing to go the full distance.
