Eight-division world champion and Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has revealed that he has retired from the fistic sport.

Pacquiao, who is campaigning to become the next president of his native Philippines, announced his retirement during an interview with actress Toni Gonzaga on Toni Talks on YouTube.

“My boxing career is over. It’s done because I’ve been in boxing for a long time and my family says that it is enough. I just continue because l’m passionate about the sport,” Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao lost to Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas in a World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ welterweight title last month. The 42-year-old Filipino has won 62 fights with 32 of those being stoppages, lost eight times and drawn thrice.
