Having led Bafana Bafana to a 3-1 win over Ethiopia in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Bahir Dar International Stadium on Saturday, coach Hugo Broos said that that was a difficult game.

Teboho Mokoena, Mothobi Mvala and Evidence Makgopa registered their names on the score sheet for Bafana Bafana while Getaneh Kebede scored for the Ethiopians.

“It was a very difficult game on a very difficult pitch. We showed the character, we showed the mentality,” the outspoken Belgian said.

Broos shocked Bafana Bafana supporters when he pulled out Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa for Victor Letsoalo in the 35th minute. He has, however, explained why he substituted Mabasa.

“I know it’s a little bit disappointed for Tshegofatso, he had difficulties. It was better we changed that,” he said.

Bafana Bafana are going to welcome the Ethiopians at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg, at 18h00 n Tuesday.
