Boxing South Africa (BSA) has responded to the government amendments, which allow spectators back at sporting events.

According to the Government Gazzette dated 11 October 2021, Dlamini-Zuma has allowed sporting events at indoor venues to take 750 and less spectators while 2000 or less are allowed at outdoor venues.

“Boxing SA has taken note of the latest regulations issued today 11 October 2021, relating to spectators at sporting events. Whilst these are welcomed news, there is still uncertainty on conditions applicable, if any, especially related to vaccination requirements,” the BSA statement said.

BSA is still seeking clarification from the government before a decision to allow fans at boxing tournaments is taken.

“Once these have been clarified, Boxing SA will issue communications providing guidance. In the interim, we ask for patience from all our licensees and boxing fans as we seek more details and we shall not delay such longer than necessary,” the statement further added.
