As expected, Bafana Bafana have not had it easy in Ghana ahead of Sunday’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Black Stars in Cape Coast.

As such, Tebogo Motlanthe, the chief executive officer of the South African Football Association (SAFA), is not happy.

“The travelling was a nightmare as we anticipated. It was a six-hour flight. We had a two-hour airport procedure, which included the most expensive rapid test,” Motlanthe said.

After doing COVID-19 tests at the airport on Accra, Bafana Bafana travelled by bus to Cape Coast.

“There is nothing to write home about. The facilities are in bad state,” Motlanthe stated.

To make things a little bit easier for Bafana Bafana, SAFA chartered a flight Ghana and also hired security personnel to escort the team to Cape Coast.

Bafana Bafana, who have 13 points from five matches, need a win or a draw in order to reach the final round of qualifiers. A Bafana Bafana loss will take the Black Stars to the final round of qualifiers. The Black Stars have 10 points from five games.
