Egypt came from behind to beat Morocco 2-1 and advanced to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon, on Sunday evening. 

The Atlas Lions were the first to find the back of the net through Soufiane Boufal’s penalty in the seventh minute. The Atlas Lions were awarded the penalty after Egypt’s Ayman Ashraf’s challenge on Achraf Hakimi. 

Liverpool’s Mo Salah equalised for the seven-time African champions in the 53rd minute. Salah pounced on a loose ball after Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou had failed to clear following a corner kick. 

The match went to extra time after the two sides drew 1-1 in regulation time. 

Mohamed ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan netted the Pharaohs’ second goal from a Salah pass in the 100th minute. Following this win, the Pharaohs are going to clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the semi-finals on Thursday.
