Japanese boxer Kenshiro Teraji retained his World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) junior-flyweight titles with a stoppage win over Anthony Olascuaga at the Ariake Arena in Koto-Ku, Tokyo, Japan on Saturday.

After a fierce a exchange of blows between the two boxers as they hammered each other, Teraji showed that he was the most experienced of the two as he stopped Olascuaga in the ninth round.

Olascuaga from the United States was a substitute after reigning World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-flyweight champion Jonathan Gonzalez pulled out of his fight against Teraji because of pneumonia.

Meanwhile, Japanese boxer Takuma Inoue became the new WBA bantamweight champion after he outpointed Liborio Solis from Venezuela in the main supporting bout.

The 27-year-old Inoue captured the same title, which was vacated by his elder brother Naoya, who now campaigns in the junior-featherweight division, with the three judges scoring the fight 116-112, 117-111 and 118-110.
