Kaizer Chiefs came from behind to beat Cape Town City 2-1 in an MTN8 quarter-final match at the Athlone Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens shot to the lead when Marc van Heerden headed past Amakhosi goalkeeper Brandon Petersen in the 23rd minute.

Being a goal down didn’t faze Chiefs as they attacked, looking for an equaliser. They finally scored when Ashley du Preez levelled matters 13 minutes later.

Chiefs’ new recruit Edson Castillo netted Amakhosi’s winning goal in referee’s added time to take the Naturena-based side to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi have joined Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, who advanced to the last eight on Saturday.
