A fine second half performance helped Stellenbosch FC fight back from a goal down to earn a 3-1 win over Royal AM in a DStv Premiership match at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg on Friday evening.

Thwihli Thwahla’s hopes of winning the match were lifted when they scored first through Sphiwe Cele’s toe-poked goal on the half hour mark.

However, Stellies didn’t give up while trailing and Deano van Rooyen equalised for the Maroons eight minutes into the second half.

Stellies took the lead for the first time with Jayden Adams’ goal in the 70th minute. Two minutes later, Iqraam Rayners made it 3-1.

Meanwhile, Nigerian-born forward Etiosa Ighodaro opened his SuperSport United account when he scored against Cape Town City in the 61st minute at theTUT Stadium in Pretoria.
