The Springboks started the defence of their Rugby World Cup trophy with an 18-3 win over Scotland in a Pool B clash at Stade de Marseille in France on Sunday evening.

After leading 6-3 at the break, the Boks scored two tries early in the second half through Pieter-Steph du Toit and Kurt-Lee Arendse.

Bok flyhalf Manie Libbok succeeded with two penalties and scrumhalf Faf de Klerk converted following Arendse’s try while the Scots’ three points came from Finn Russell’s penalty.

This was the third time the defending champions defeated the Scots in a World Cup tournament.
