The Springboks lost for the first time in the 2023 Rugby World Cup as they were beaten 13-8 by Ireland at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France, on Saturday evening.

The Boks were the first to register on the score sheet when their flyhalf Manie Libbok converted a penalty in the sixth minute.

The Irish replied when they scored a try through their winger Mack Hansen in the 33rd minute and Johnny Sexton successfully converted to make it 7-3.

Winger Cheslin Kolbe gave the Boks the lead again when he scored his try in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, Libbok missed the conversion.

The Irish regained the lead after Sexton converted a penalty in the 59th minute to make it 10-8. Jack Crowley added three more points when he converted a penalty three minutes before full-time.
