Japanese boxer Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue has followed in the footsteps of American Terence Crawford by becoming a two-weight undisputed world champion in the four-belt era.

This came after Inoue added the World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ and International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-featherweight crowns to his World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) titles after he stopped Marlon Tapales from the Philippines in the 10th round at the Ariake Arena in Koto-Ku, Japan, on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Inoue improved his record to 26 wins with 23 of those victories coming by way of stoppages. On the other hand, Tapales dropped to 37 wins (19 knockouts) and four losses.

Meanwhile, Crawford was the first man to become an undisputed two-weight division champion. Currently, Crawford holds the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO welterweight titles.

The 36-year-old unbeaten Crawford is a former WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO junior-welterweight champion.
