Kay B Promotions, a new promotional outfit owned by Mdantsane-born Mzi Booi, was launched in Beacon Bay, East London, on Sunday.

The new kid on the promotional block has already lined up its inaugural tournament, which is scheduled for Sunday, 31 March at the Orient Theatre in East London.

“It’s a culmination of a dream I have had since the 1970s when my mom took me to a tournament at Sisa Dukashe,” Kay B Promotions boss Booi said.

Booi added that his promotional outfit was named after his son Kwanda, who assembled a team for Kay B, which is made up of males and females.

Kay B Promotions’ tournament is going to be headlined by a South African featherweight title contest between current champion Zolisa Batyi and Yamkela Phaliso.

Batyi will be making his second defence of the national title he won after he stopped former champion Jeff Magagane in the second round at the Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex in Seshego, Polokwane, in December 2022.

Meanwhile, newly-appointed Boxing South Africa (BSA) accounting authority Mandla Ntlanganiso, who was appointed by Minister of Sport Zizi Kodwa more than a week ago, graced the occasion.
