Former South African lightweight champion Irvin Buhlalu from KwaZulu-Natal has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Boxing South Africa (BSA) sanctioning committee.

Buhlalu leads the committee, which is made up of veteran ring official Siya Vabaza-Booi, journalist Droeks Malan and Tinyiko Nkatingi, who is the BSA provincial manager in Limpopo. The 49-year-old 1996 Olympian was a member of the sanctioning committee which was led by Sakhiwe Sodo, a member of the interdicted BSA board.

Meanwhile, Andre de Vries is back as the chairperson of the ratings committee, which is made up of Xolile Dike, erstwhile SA junior-welterweight titlist Nika Kumalo and former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) bantamweight champion Silence Mabuza.
