With the eyes of the South African boxing community going to be fixed in his fight against Asanda ‘Dynamite’ Gingqi, one-time world title contender Azinga ‘Golden Boy’ Fuzile fully understands what he needs to do on Friday.

The Duncan Village-born Fuzile faces Gingqi in a 10 rounds junior-lightweight bout at the Orient Theatre in KuGompo City as he wants to snap his opponent’s seven-fight winning streak. Gingqi from Mdantsane has not lost a fight since losing his SA featherweight title to Jeff Magagane in September 2022.

“I feel great and ready for the fight. I’m not afraid of anything. I’ve longed for the day of the fight to arrive. Gingqi is not a difficult opponent and my hand is going to be raised after the fight,” Fuzile, a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-lightweight title contender, said.

The 29-year-old erstwhile SA featherweight champion goes to Friday’s fight following a points loss to Kazakh boxer Sultan Zaurbek in Astana, Kazakhstan, in April last year. On the other hand, Gingqi, who is the reigning SA lightweight titlist, laboured to a points win over Lubabalo Kweyi last December. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
