Kaizer Chiefs confirmed on Tuesday evening that they had sold their defender Aden McCarthy to Sabah FK in Azerbaijan.
“We can confirm that we have agreed to release Aden after being approached by Sabah FK. We are proud that he will compete in the qualifying round of next season’s UEFA Champions League. We know Aden will fly the Amakhosi flag high in Europe and we are excited to see him grow on the world stage,” Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Junior said.
The 22-year-old Aden is the son of former Mpumalanga Black Aces, Maritzburg United, Moroka Swallows, Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic defender Fabian McCarthy.
