A six months working relationship between award-winning boxing trainer Khangelani Jack and Siseko Teyisi has come to an end as the boxer changed trainers earlier this week.

Teyisi teamed up with Jack, the 2023 Trainer of the Year award winner, in January this year after he left Xaba Boxing Academy following a fallout with Xaba Promotions.

Now, the reigning South African and World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth junior-flyweight titlist is trained by Vuyani ‘The Beast’ Bungu, a former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-featherweight and International Boxing Organisation (IBO) featherweight champion.

“His management came to us and told us that Siseko was going to be trained by Bro Vido. I’ve got nothing against their decision to take Siseko elsewhere as we didn’t fight with them prior to his departure. Already, he started training with Bro Vido this week,” Jack said.

Contacted for comment, Teyisi’s manager Bongani Bozo told Ink Sport that Bungu, who was unavailable for comment, and Jack work together.

Meanwhile, the Mdantsane-born Teyisi is rated in sixth position by the IBF and is 14th in the World Boxing Association (WBA) ratings.

Teyisi fought only once under Jack when he outpointed Filipino opponent Neel Jacamos in a WBC Youth junior-flyweight title fight at the Jan Smuts Stadium in KuGompo City almost two months ago. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
