Bangile Nyangani is still carrying the pain of missing out on making money when his opponent Thembani Okolo ducked a few days before their scheduled fight last month.
Okolo from Gqeberha ‘disappeared’ and never travelled to Johannesburg for a fight with Nyangani, which was pencilled for 27 January. The collapse of the duel hit Nyangani financially after he had spent a lot of money preparing for their fight.
Now, Nyangani from Bityi in Mthatha, gets another opportunity as he’s going to defend his South African minimumweight title against Loyiso Ngantweni.
Johannesburg-based Nyangani, who is trained by Alan Toweel, faces Ngantweni in April. And this is going to be Nyangani’s first defence of the title he won when he dethroned former champion Siyakholwa Kuse in East London in July last year.
East London-based Ngantweni, who is rated number two, stopped Ndikho Magadaza in his last fight held at the Titi Jonas Hall in Port Alfred last July.
