Unbeaten boxer Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga will make a voluntary defence of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title early next year.

This was revealed by Nontshinga’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan, who also doubles as Rumble Africa Promotions (RAP) international adviser. RAP together with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing promote Nontshinga.

“We are going to defend our title either in February or March next year. It’s going to be a voluntary defence. At the moment, we have not looked at who might become our next opponent,” Nathan, the chief trainer at Hot Box Gym, said.

Nontshinga captured the vacant IBF junior-flyweight crown after he became the first boxer to defeat previously unbeaten Mexican Hector Flores when he won by a split decision during their fight in Hermosillo, Sorona, in Mexico two months ago.

The 23-year-old Nontshinga from East London has won all his 11 fights with nine of those victories coming via the short route.

Meanwhile, Filipino boxers Mark Mendoza Vicelles and Regie Suganob are yet to agree on matters pertaining to their IBF junior-flyweight elimination bout.

The 26-year-old Vicelles, who has 17 victories and a draw, is rated fourth by the IBF while his compatriot Suganob, 25, is two places below him and is yet to lose or draw in 12 fights.
