Hekkie ‘Hexecutioner’ Budler might take a long time before he gets a shot at Kenshiro Teraji’s World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) ‘Super’ junior-flyweight titles.

This is so because Teraji, who stopped his countryman Hiroto Kyoguchi in the seventh round during their fight for the WBC and WBA titles at the Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Tuesday, might get a unification bout with World Boxing Organisation (WBO) junior-flyweight champion Jonathan Gonzalez.

“The interesting scenario is, do we go to the WBC and order an interim belt? Or does the WBC order who we fight next? Chances are that Teraji might get in another unification with the WBO champion,”  Budler’s trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan said.

“The unification supersedes any mandatory. The WBC convention is coming up this week. I will have a little bit clarity in the next two weeks.”

The former International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title holder defeated Mexican Elwin Soto in a WBC elimination bout in June this year. Budler, 34, is number one on the WBC ratings, rated third by both the WBA and the World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
