Nhlanhla ‘Mount Kilimanjaro’ Tyirha regards last month’s shock sixth round loss to Malawian George Kandulo as a setback, which he has to forget about as he looks forward to regaining his lost confidence.

Kandulo, a late substitute, stunned East London boxing fans into silence when he stopped Tyirha at the International Convention Centre (ICC).

“I’m back at training since last week. I have put what happened behind me. Nothing will bury my dream while I’m still alive. I’m going to work very hard to reclaim my ratings in different world bodies. In fact, I’ll work harder than I did in the past,” Tyirha said.

Losing to Kandulo came at a high price to the former South African junior-flyweight champion as it resulted in him losing ratings in all four major world bodies.

Before going to the Kandulo fight, Tyirha was rated in the top 15 by the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO).
