It’s on to the next assignment for award-winning boxing trainer Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan now that he’s done helping Lerato ‘Lights Out’ Dlamini and Hedda Wolmarans win their fights.

Nathan led Dlamini to a split decision victory over Japanese boxer Tomoki Kameda in Japan last month and he was in Wolmarans’ corner when she stopped Happy Daudi Mwagike in the second round in Booysens, Johannesburg, on Saturday evening.

Now Nathan’s next assignment is to help Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga successfully defend his world title defence against Adrian Curiel Dominguez from Mexico in Monaco on Saturday, 4 November.

The 24-year-old Nontshinga will make the second defence of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title against the Mexican at the Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco.

“I’m very happy with the preparations. We are wrapping up sparring this week. Sive is looking really sharp. I’m happy with the way things have been going,” Nathan remarked.

A five men team made up of Nathan, Nontshinga, Bernie Pailman, Nontshinga’s father Thembani Gopheni and Siya Zingelwa will leave for Monaco on Monday next week.

And Nontshinga carries an unbeaten record to the Dominguez clash having won all his 12 fights with nine of those victories coming from stoppages. Dominguez, meanwhile, has 23 wins with four knockouts, four losses and a draw.

The 24-year-old Dominguez, who is rated 12th by the IBF, will be fighting for the fourth time this year. He claimed a third round technical knockout victory over his compatriot Ivan Garcia Garrillo in just last fight in August.
