Unbeaten world champion Sivenathi ‘Special One’ Nontshinga has revealed that he has done all while preparing for his fight against Mexican boxer Adrian Curiel Dominguez.
The 24-year-old Nontshinga clashes with Dominguez in the second defence of his International Boxing Federation (IBF) junior-flyweight title at the Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco this coming Saturday.
“I’m happy, I’m excited. I have waited long for this. All the sacrifices I have made, all the preparations, were done so that I could be closer to getting into the ring,” Nontshinga said before flying out of South Africa for Monaco on Monday evening.
“This is my job, I get paid to do it. We have watched my opponent’s videos. We saw how he fights, his approach and his flaws. He has his own mistakes. But we are not going to underestimate him. We are going to make him miss and make sure that he pays after that.”
Nontshinga’s father Thembani ‘Best’ Gopheni, who together with Colin ‘Nomakanjani’ Nathan train his son, said: “There’s no turning back now. I’m happy for Sive. Preparations have gone very well. Sive is ready physically, mentally and spiritually.”
And Nontshinga carries an unbeaten record to the Dominguez clash having won all his 12 fights with nine of those victories coming from stoppages. The 24-year-old Dominguez, meanwhile, has 23 wins with four knockouts, four losses and a draw.
