After he survived an early knock down during his fight against Selemani ‘Mamba’ Kidunda, South African boxer Asemahle ‘The Predator’ Wellem fought back and forced a draw against the Tanzanian at The Warehouse, Masaki, Dar-Es-Salaam in Tanzania early on Saturday morning.

As a result of the draw against the 40-year-old Kidunda, Wellem successfully defended his World Boxing Foundation (WBF) Intercontinental super-middleweight title.

Taking the fight to Wellem from the first bell, Kidunda shocked the reigning South African super-middleweight champion when he decked him with a big right hand in the third round. However, Wellem from Chintsa in the Eastern Cape held on until the end of he round.

Thinking that he had won the fight as he was fighting on the back foot, Kidunda, who works as a soldier in Tanzania, kissed the canvas in the 12th and last round.
