The increasing number of Eastern Cape-born players playing at Chippa United is like sweet music to Chilli Boys chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi.
The Chilli Boys boss is quite happy, specifically with Sinoxolo Kwayiba and Kayden Francis, who are making a name for themselves at the Gqeberha-based club.
Kwayiba has scored two goals into two successive matches. He was on the scoresheet when the Chilli Boys beat Cape Town Spurs 2-0 and Kaizer Chiefs by the same score line while Francis also scored against the Urban Warriors on Wednesday.
“If you had seen how happy I was on Wednesday to see two Eastern Cape players helping the team to win. We want to see more,” Mpengesi said after the Chilli Boys beat Chiefs at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London on Saturday afternoon.
Mpengesi added: “Ours is to give those youngsters platforms to allow these players to showcase their talents. We are very pleased to have those players from the Eastern Cape. I can thank very much the coaching staff for trusting the players.”
