Chippa United chairman Siviwe ‘Chippa’ Mpengesi has revealed why they went for Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September as co-coaches at the Chilli Boys.
Kopo and September have led the Chilli Boys to a five-match unbeaten run at home in all competitions in East London and Gqeberha. And the Chilli Boys have scored seven goals without conceding a goal in their last three home league matches.
“Look, as you know that both coaches’ foundation is solid. They are coming from one of the recognised teams that is known to develop talent,” Mpengesi said referring both Kopo and September having worked as junior coaches at SuperSport United.
“They had no PSL experience, that’s why we thought about combining them just to assit them. We believe that these two coaches are the future. We believe that they can change the fortunes of Chippa United. They also believe in young players.”
Kopo and September have guided the Eastern Cape side to the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup. The Chilli Boys will be away to TS Galaxy in the last eight of the knockout competition on Sunday.
