While he was a footballer, Phikelelani Khumalo from Ugu in KwaZulu-Natal never won a title and now hele gets an opportunity to remedy that as he clashes against Faustin Bukasa in a boxing fight on Saturday.
Khumalo, a former Lamontville Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United Diski Challenge player, and Bukasa from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) clash for the vacant African Boxing Union (ABU) middleweight title as they headline a Mvelo Promotions tournament at The Station Urban Event Space in Durban.
Meanwhile, Arnel Lubisi from Mpumalanga province failed to make the required weight ahead of his fight against Mnelisi Ndlovu in a vacant ABU-SADC bantamweight title strap.
Only Ndlovu from KwaXimba is eligible to win the ABU belt as a Lubisi victory won’t hand him the title following his failure to make the weight.
