Cape Winelands side, Stellenbosch FC, announced the return of midfielder Darrel Matsheke, to the club on Friday morning.
The 27-year-old Matsheke was in the Stellies squad, which won the Carling Knockout during the 2023/24 season. He is expected to play when Stellies face Kruger United on Saturday.
“Stellenbosch Football Club is pleased to announce that midfielder Darrel Matsheke has rejoined the club for a second spell,” a Stellies statement said.
When Matsheke left Stellies he went on to play for Pretoria Callies and Kruger United in the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC).
“It feels great to be back at Stellenbosch FC. It was unexpected, but I am really happy to be here. I can only thank God for the opportunity, and the Club and the coach for trusting me enough to bring me back,” Matsheke said.
“I want to pick up where I left off on the field and help the team compete for more. I missed out on the opportunity to play in Africa last time, so there’s a bit of unfinished business, but this is a second chance for me to do more and achieve those goals.”
