Needing only three points to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos is threatening to resign from his job should the South African senior men’s national team lose both AFCON qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.
Bafana face the Cranes away at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, at 15h00 this coming Friday and then welcome South Sudan at the Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday next week.
“If we were to lose both games, five minutes after the game I am on the flight to Belgium. You can be sure of it. If we can’t win, ok Uganda away is tough, but at home against South Sudan, I tell you I will immediately take a flight and you will never see me again,” Broos said on Monday.
Broos’ Bafana have amassed eight points from four matches while the Cranes of Uganda have collected 10 points from four games.
Meanwhile, Mihlali Mayambela withdrew from the Bafana camp due to injury and has since been replaced by Devin Titus from Stellenbosch FC.
