The Ministry of Sport has intervened in the matter between the South African Football Association (SAFA), Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana players.
Minister of Sport Gayton McKenzie announced on Thursday that his ministry had advanced SAFA an amount of R5 million from their 2025 grant to solve the non-payment of players.
“I couldn’t sit and watch our players not being paid over festive. We advanced R5 million to be used to pay all Bafana and Banyana players including their bonuses. We also demanded a turnaround strategy from SAFA_net, our players made us proud,” McKenzie said.
