Amajita will go to the FIFA World Cup tournament in Chile as reigning African champions after they beat Morocco 1-0 in an Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations final at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt on Sunday evening.
Gomolemo Kekana scored Amajita’s goal from goalkeeper Fletcher Smythe-Lowe’s assist in the 70th minute. Initially, the goal was ruled as an offside, only for VAR to confirm it as legitimate.
And this was probably sweet revenge for South Africa after losing to the Moroccans by the same margin 28 years ago.
Meanwhile, the World Cup tournament is scheduled to start on Saturday, 27 September and come to an end on Sunday, 19 October.
