The Nigerian Super Falcons have reached the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament after they defeated Banyana Banyana 2-1 at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, on Tuesday evening.
The Super Falcons led 1-0 at interval through Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade’s penalty, which she converted on the stroke of half-time. The spot kick came after Bambanani Mbane had handled the ball inside the box.
Banyana equalised through Linda Mothlalo from the penalty spot a minute before the hour mark after Hildah Magaia was fouled inside the box.
Just as everyone thought the match would go to extra time, Michelle Chinwendu Alozie scored directly from a long range free-kick in referee’s added time to give the Nigerians the win.
