Bafana Bafana opened the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a 2-1 win over Angola in a Group B match at the Marrakech Stadium in Morocco on Monday evening.

Bafana broke the deadlock from Oswin Appollis’ goal following a Lyle Foster assist in the 21st minute.

After relentless attacks, the Black Antelopes equalised through Manuel Luis da Silva Cafumana, who was set up by Alfredo Kulembo Ribeiro 10 minutes before the half-time break.

Tshepang Moremi thought he had restored Bafana’s lead only for the video assistant referee (VAR) to rule otherwise. The goal was disallowed as Appollis has interfered with play coming from an offside position.

Bafana finally restored their lead when Foster’s beautiful strike sailed past Angola goalkeeper Hugo Marques after an assist from Moremi.
