Nigeria’s Super Eagles emerged as 3-2 victors over Tunisia in a Group C 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament at the Fez Stadium in Morocco on Saturday evening. 

The Super Eagles led 1-0 at half-time through Victor Osimhen’s 44th minute goal. Five minutes into the second half, Wilfred Ndidi increased the Nigerians’ lead and Ademola Lookman made it 3-0 in the 67th minute.

Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles never gave up despite trailing by three goals and their efforts were rewarded with Montassar Talbi’s goal in the 44th minute. Ali Abdi scored the Carthage Eagles’ second goal from the penalty spot three minutes before full-time.

Elsewhere, Benin recorded their first ever victory in an AFCON tournament when they beat Botswana 1-0 through Yohan Roche at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) played to a 1-1 draw. Cedric Bakambu opened the scoring for the Leopards and Sadio Mané equalised for the Teranga Lions.

Meanwhile, the East African derby between Uganda’s Cranes and their neighbours Tanzania ended in a 1-1 draw. 

Tanzania’s Taifa Stars took the lead through Saimon Msuva’s converted penalty before Uche Ikpeazu levelled matters for the Cranes.
