Yanga ‘Showtime’ Sigqibo and his trainer, Mzamo ‘Chief’ Njekanye, are going to fly out of South for Ghana on Tuesday, hoping to return home with victory.
Sigqibo is scheduled to antagonise Ghanaian boxer Michael ‘Black Spider’ Abban in a World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan-African junior-bantamweight title fight at the Kalabash Event Complex in Pokuase this coming Sunday.
“We are going to leave for Ghana on Tuesday,” the former South African junior-bantamweight champion from Duncan Village in KuGompo City confirmed.
This is Sigqibo’s first fight since his sixth round technical knockout win over Tanzanian opponent Msabaha Salum Msabaha at the Orient Theatre, KuGompo City, in August last year. Sigqibo has registered 19 wins with six knockouts, three losses and a draw.
On the other hand, Abban will go to the Sigqibo clash on the back of five successive stoppage wins. The Ghanaian southpaw has a professional record of 14 wins with 10 knockouts and one loss. – Monwabisi Jimlongo
