Marumo Gallants announced the appointment of former Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Filemon Ronnie Kanalelo, as their new head coach on Monday evening.

Kanalelo plugged the gap, which was created by the sacking of the club’s former coach, Phuti Mohafe, who got the boot last week.

The 55-year-old Kanalelo is not new to the coaching set-up in the South African Premier Division having worked as goalkeeper coach at Bloemfontein Celtic and Maritzburg United.

Kanalelo’s first match on the Gallants bench will be against defending Betway Premiership champions, Orlando Pirates, at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Phokeng, Rustenburg, this coming Sunday.

A holder of a CAF A licence, the former Namibian senior men’s national team goalkeeper, coached a number of clubs back home in Namibia.
