Chippa United coach Gavin Hunt has said that they did what they had to do during their goalless draw with defending DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Tuesday evening.
Hunt is satisfied with how his players acquitted themselves against the star-studded Brazilians.
“I thought there was no danger. We had to do what we had to do. Obviously, it was important for us to play a little bit on the turn over,” Hunt said.
“We won a couple of times in the first half. We had two good chances. They have the best team in the country and we needed points. We had to do our own thing.”
The former Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits mentor is quite happy with the point they earned from the match. The Gqeberha-based club now have four points having won once and drawn once.
“Of course, a point is crucial for a club of this size. Every point is crucial,” the 57-year-old coach said.
Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi, meanwhile, believes that the draw is like a loss to him.
“For me it’s two points dropped. We did not apply ourselves the way we expected in the match. We knew that Gavin would be very stubborn,” Mngqithi said.
Just like the Chilli Boys, the Brazilians have four points from a win and a draw.
